API Terms of Use

These API Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the application programming interfaces (“APIs”), software development kits (SDKs), documentation, webhooks, and related developer resources (collectively, the “API Services”) provided by Octalas Pay (“Octalas Pay”, “we”, “our”, or “us”).

By accessing or using the API Services, you agree to these Terms.


1. Purpose

The Octalas Pay APIs enable authorised businesses and developers to integrate payment processing, merchant services, embedded finance, payment orchestration, and related financial technology services into their applications, websites, and platforms.


2. Eligibility

You may only access the API Services if you:

  • Are authorised to represent your organisation.
  • Maintain an active Octalas Pay account where required.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Accept these Terms.

We may require identity and business verification before granting production API access.


3. API Credentials

You are responsible for protecting your:

  • API Keys
  • Client IDs
  • Client Secrets
  • Access Tokens
  • OAuth Credentials

API credentials must:

  • Be kept confidential.
  • Never be shared publicly.
  • Never be embedded in client-side applications.
  • Be rotated immediately if compromised.

You are responsible for all activity performed using your credentials.


4. Permitted Use

You may use the API Services solely to:

  • Process authorised payment transactions.
  • Integrate approved Octalas Pay services.
  • Develop commercial applications using our APIs.
  • Build customer-facing payment experiences.
  • Access authorised reporting and account information.

Use of the APIs must comply with all documentation published by Octalas Pay.


5. Prohibited Activities

You must not:

  • Reverse engineer the APIs.
  • Copy or reproduce the API architecture.
  • Attempt unauthorised access.
  • Circumvent security controls.
  • Interfere with API availability.
  • Introduce malicious code.
  • Use the APIs for unlawful purposes.
  • Process prohibited transactions.
  • Exceed published rate limits.
  • Resell API access without written authorisation.

6. Security

You agree to maintain appropriate security controls, including:

  • Secure API key storage.
  • Encryption of transmitted data.
  • Secure authentication.
  • Access controls.
  • Logging and monitoring.
  • Incident response procedures.

You must immediately notify Octalas Pay of any suspected security breach involving your integration.


7. Availability

We aim to provide reliable API availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.

API Services may be interrupted for:

  • Scheduled maintenance
  • Security updates
  • Infrastructure upgrades
  • Third-party service outages
  • Regulatory requirements
  • Emergency maintenance

8. Rate Limits

To protect platform stability, Octalas Pay may apply:

  • Request limits
  • Transaction limits
  • Bandwidth limits
  • Concurrent connection limits

Excessive usage may result in temporary throttling or suspension.


9. Compliance

Developers and businesses using the APIs must comply with all applicable:

  • AML regulations
  • KYC obligations
  • Data protection laws
  • PCI DSS requirements
  • Card scheme rules
  • Financial regulations
  • Sanctions laws

API access may be suspended where compliance obligations are not met.


10. Third-Party Providers

Certain API functionality relies upon authorised financial institutions, payment processors, banking partners, identity verification providers, or other regulated third parties.

Availability of certain features may depend on these providers.


11. Intellectual Property

All APIs, SDKs, documentation, software, trademarks, and related technology remain the exclusive property of Octalas Pay or its licensors.

These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the APIs solely in accordance with this Agreement.


12. Changes to APIs

We may:

  • Introduce new API versions.
  • Modify functionality.
  • Deprecate endpoints.
  • Retire legacy APIs.

Where reasonably possible, advance notice will be provided before material changes affecting production integrations.


13. Suspension

We may immediately suspend API access where:

  • Security risks are identified.
  • Fraud is suspected.
  • Compliance requirements are not met.
  • These Terms are breached.
  • Platform integrity is threatened.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Octalas Pay shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, including loss of profits, revenue, business opportunities, or data arising from the use of the API Services.

Our aggregate liability shall not exceed the fees paid by the customer during the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.


15. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Octalas Pay, its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, licensors, and partners against claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses arising from your integration, breach of these Terms, misuse of the API Services, or violation of applicable laws.


16. Confidentiality

Any non-public API documentation, specifications, credentials, technical information, or development materials provided by Octalas Pay are confidential and must not be disclosed to third parties without prior written consent.


17. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction of the contracting Octalas Pay entity unless otherwise required by applicable law.


18. Amendments

Octalas Pay may update these API Terms of Use from time to time. Continued use of the API Services following publication of revised Terms constitutes acceptance of those changes.
